KITCHEN PREPARATION
- Ask buyers what area of the house they consider most important, and chances are they will say the kitchen. Most buyers will pay particular attention to its cleanliness, layout and storage capacity.
- Take a good look at your kitchen. Is it cluttered, are you lacking the space you want? Well, odds are the potential buyer will feel the same way!
- If any appliances are included in the sale, be sure they are in working order and kept clean.
- If your kitchen cabinets are overflowing empty and store seldom used items. Go through your problem cabinets and following your “pile system” begin sorting. The cabinets should appear as though you have ample storage space.
- The sink cabinet is usually the one that is in most need of de-cluttering and attention. This is also the cabinet that a potential buyer would look in for leaks, and it will eventually be checked by the home inspector. If you have a leak, it needs to be repaired.
- Kitchen countertops should be cleaned off and left with very little on them. Countertops should be swiped clean!
- Remove small appliances that you don’t use often, clutter and knick-knacks. By doing this, it will be easier to keep the kitchen clean throughout the showing process and, it will appear spacious.
- Clean the stove and refrigerator.
